About Us

About us…

Here you will get to know a little more about us. No really… not just the same old, same old “about us” page found on every other website with just names and pictures, or services offered. Here you will get a more personal look at us and what we like to do as well as the other standard about us page.

About Peter Diehl Sr

Hi my name is Peter Diehl,

I am founder and co-owner/operator of Pristine Tile & Carpet Cleaning. I was born on Long Island New York and moved to Virginia in 1993. Along with  my son and co-owner, Pete Jr (AKA Re-Pete) we run a successful carpet cleaning business that we are all very proud of.

I am happily married to my wife Michele for 32 years and love her more than words can say. We have two great kids that have grown into two great adults. Our daughter Rachel met her husband Spencer while working at 6 Bears & a Goat Brewery where they both held key management positions. Spencer still works there and Rachel has transitioned to a teaching job at Caroline County Schools in 2024.

Michele has retired from an awesome career at Geico of 30 years! but quickly started working again doing similar work for a different company.  Geico was the reason we moved here in 1993, so Michele could pursue her career. I happily obliged after comparing the cost of living in New York to Fredericksburg, which incidentally is no longer such a drastic difference as the Fredericksburg area has grown by leaps and bounds, allowing us to grow with it.  I started here as a clerk at Food Lion and very quickly rose to Management where I stayed for the next 10+ years, Then I did my own stint at Geico for about 3 years before I decided I wanted to do something for myself, Pristine Tile & Carpet cleaning was born! In my free time I like to play guitar, garden, hike, go boating on the Potomac with family and friends, visit the beach and the mountains.  I am always down to visit new places and discover new things.

About Pristine Tile & Carpet Cleaning

Pristine Tile & Carpet Cleaning was established in 2006 as Pristine Tile & Grout Restoration. Not long after we started we changed the name to Pristine Tile & Carpet Cleaning as it better described what we offered. The word restoration created too many calls for failing showers and floors. Pristine specializes in tile, grout and carpet cleaning in the greater Fredericksburg Virginia area, including Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and parts of King George counties. We guarantee that you will receive the  most thorough cleaning ever, and great personalized customer service.

Being a family owned business has drawbacks that don’t always work out for some customers. Just like everyone else, we have our hobbies and things we like to do with our family on nights, weekends, and holidays. So early on we decided we were going to pursue residential work, and let the commercial and emergency work to those who prefer to do that type of service. I am always willing to provide referrals to great companies who do what we don’t, so just call me directly at 540-841-3907, and I will be happy to help.

Our Method

Steam cleaning or hot water extraction is our preferred method of cleaning tile and carpet. The term steam cleaning was coined by the industry years ago, but steam was never really used as it doesn’t travel well through  pressure hoses and creates vapor lock. Temperatures are set just below the boiling point of 212 degrees allowing for super hot water to be delivered to the cleaning wands for very effective professional cleanings. The most important part of professional cleaning is the extraction. Our truck-mounted machine shines in this area, with very powerful vacuum and heat to leave carpets clean, soft and quick drying. People often comment on how fast we clean, but moving fast is required for this type of equipment. Too slow could result in over wetting and slow dry times. This is not a Bissel or Rug Doctor  but seriously powerful equipment.

Our ratings speak volumes

We are extremely proud of our ratings and have lots of them! Well over 500 – 5 star ratings across sites like Google, Yelp, Home Advisor, Angies List and right here on our own web site. This comes not from just being awesome carpet cleaners but also being there when we say we will, answering  and returning phone calls, being prepared and well stocked for all cleaning situations. We want to be your go to cleaner for life!

About Peter Diehl Jr

Peter started working the family business part time while he was still in high school 15 years ago. He has a passion to do everything perfect no matter what it is, work related or personal. His work ethic is extraordinary, and it shows in the reviews that our happy customers are leaving. Another top quality Pete has is his kindness and willing to help other people, he truly would give anyone the shirt off his back, really.

Re-Pete has several hobbies that take up much of his free time (okay, all of his free time). The one one at the top of the list is Bonsai’s. He spends hours trimming and training trees to grow in small containers that mimic large trees. Other hobbies include Leather working, knife making, flint knapping, and the most recent motorcycle customizing. His leather work includes belts, wallets, accessories of all sorts. He mainly makes these beautiful creations to give to family and friends. Again, that’s how he is…never in it for the money he just likes to make people happy!

The photo below is a project that Pete played a huge role in, a Japanese Zen Garden installed at the University of Mary Washington. You can read more about it in this Free Lance Star article. It’s just stunning! Pete’s great friends and mentors Bob Chilton and Todd Stewart of Gardens Unlimited in Caroline County are the masterminds behind these extraordinary gardens.

Our Homestead

After living in Stafford County for 30 years we embarked on a new journey and purchased 50 acres of land in Caroline County and started building out our family subdivision. This was not something we set out to do but dwelled on the idea for 2-3 years after our very good friends Bob & Todd, now neighbors, presented this idea to us in an effort to keep the property from falling into the hands of developers.  We are now in our newly built houses for a year and we couldn’t be happier of what we created. In the beginning we would stay in our Airstream travel trailer on weekends at the land. It was an enormous amount of work cutting miles of trails through dense forest and wetlands creating an unbelievable private nature preserve. The trails, while difficult to cut in the beginning have become much easier to maintain after time, maintenance,  and foot traffic. We walk these trails on a almost daily basis. On the homestead we have 1 very loveable black lab mix that belongs to our daughter and son-in-law, Rachel & Spencer. Also running between the houses are  3 super cute and loveable dachshunds. Frankie belongs to Pete Jr and Forest and Iris belong next door at Bob & Todd’s. Frankie and Forest are brothers and Iris is just a year older.
