carpet cleaning cost

How much does carpet cleaning cost?

There are many factors to consider when answering this question. But the single biggest factor is location. Is the home in the sticks? or is it in a upscale area of a major metropolitan? But the fact is most people need to know what carpet cleaning cost before booking.

In my area and many others it’s probably somewhere in between. The national average is about $50 a room, but can vary from $25 to $75 depending on many factors. There are sometimes issues with the carpet such as pet urine, kool-aid stains or filtration soil (black edges) just to name a few.

These situations can increase the cost considerably depending on the severity. There are times that even the most experienced carpet cleaner won’t be able to guarantee total removal of difficult stains or odors. Hopefully this is discussed between the technician and the property owner or renter before the work begins. There is a time in a carpets life where it just is not worth or recommended to clean.

Another thing to consider is the furniture, do you want it moved or cleaned around? Furniture moving is hard work and can also be a bit risky especially with older antiques. So needless to say, this may be an added cost and most carpet cleaners have a list of things they won’t move such as china cabinets, electronics, large beds, pianos etc…

Vacuuming prior to steam cleaning carpet is a must. Some more expensive companies include this on every job as others do not. So it’s best to ask that question at the time of booking. Some companies will give the option to the customer to vacuum themselves or pay to have it done. It can’t be stressed enough that this is a very important step and the vacuuming needs to be slowly and thoroughly by a vacuum in good working order…clean filters or new bag.

Most carpet cleaners also have a minimum charge around $100, so if you only have one room it will be more than the per room price.

Some companies charge by the square foot and others by the room. It’s always a good idea to call a couple of places for quotes. You will be very surprised at the difference between companies. So choose carefully, the best value for your money.

Always check a companies reviews online and be cautious of companies with less than stellar reviews or even worse, no reviews. There is a chance that those are the bait and switch companies that unfortunately are out there operating.

Here is a link to our own price list made available for all to see, we at Pristine Tile & Carpet Cleaning want our customers to know that they are all paying the same, very reasonable prices. Unlike many other companies, we don’t offer discounts or special pricing for anyone. We just don’t want to get caught up in the pricing game, if you do your due research you will find that many of the companies that offer discounts and specials are generally much higher priced and they use this in their sales tactics to close the deal, making the customer feel as though they got something others did not. Again just a game…they jack up the price then offer discounts only to those that ask. So we understand that you must ask if you’re a senior, military, fire, rescue, teacher, police etc… although we so appreciate these workers we think all people and occupations are important in today’s society.
